Our goals in life change constantly depending on our circumstances. Maybe you recently started a family, or you want to spend more time practicing your hobby, or you long to travel. For today’s guest, she realized that teaching required valuable energy that meant she was too tired and overwhelmed to pour into her own child. That was the wake up call she needed to make a change.
In today’s episode, I’m chatting with Arianna Vernier, a teacher turned work-from-home mom who coaches other moms and former teachers on how to start their own virtual assistant businesses. She started out as a VA after leaving her teaching job, and the transition to mentor and coach has allowed her even more flexibility and freedom.
Arianna and I are chatting about her transition from teacher to VA, what she has learned about the importance of mindset and boundary-setting, how she has grown into her role as CEO, and how she supports teachers looking to transition into more flexible work with a higher income.
If you’re looking to ditch your 9-5 job and unsure where to start, this episode will remind you that you have the abilities to make the jump—if you can overcome your imposter syndrome, remind yourself why you don’t want your career to take over your life, and embrace the shifting and growth that comes with stepping into your role as CEO.
On Today’s Show You’ll Learn:
- How Arianna discovered virtual assisting, and how she transitioned from teacher to virtual assistant
- Arianna’s mindset when she first started her business, and how she grew in confidence as a leader and CEO
- The importance of setting boundaries up front and defining success on your own terms (not your clients’)
- How Arianna shifted into coaching and mentoring in her business
- How positive affirmations helped Arianna overcome imposter syndrome
- How Arianna operates today as a CEO, and her advice for business owners at any stage of their journey on embracing their role as CEO

Meet Arianna:
Arianna Vernier is a mama and former elementary teacher turned business mentor for women who want to quit their 9-5 and start working from home as a virtual assistant.
Arianna was able to ditch the classroom right after giving birth to her daughter, and began working from home as a freelancer/virtual assistant. Within a very short time she replaced her teaching income, and it is her mission to help other moms do the same so they can be there to witness all of their child’s firsts and build a business that works around their schedule.
She is the host of the Ditch the Classroom podcast, where she shares tools, tips, and strategies to help you start your Ditch the Classroom journey and take your income to 4-figure months and beyond.
